See the English Level TestAbout English skill tests
A skill test looks at one part of your English at a time. Instead of a single overall result, you get a CEFR level for the skill you choose: speaking, writing, reading, listening, grammar or vocabulary. This is useful when an application, a course or a job asks about one particular ability, or when you simply want to know where you stand in the skill you are working on.
Every result is reported on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the widely used six-level scale from A1 to C2. In the grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening tests, the questions adjust to your answers, so the test spends its time near your level rather than on items that are far too easy or far too hard. Speaking and writing responses are assessed against the CEFR criteria for those skills. The report then shows which parts of the skill went well and which need more work, with suggestions on what to practise next. Because each test focuses on one skill, you can come back later and take it again to see how that skill has developed.
Skill tests suit learners who want to track progress in one area, job seekers who need to show a specific ability, and students preparing for courses taught in English. You can take the test first and decide afterwards whether to unlock your result, report and certificate. Each certificate carries a unique ID and a QR code, so anyone you share it with can check it online. If you need several skills, you can take the tests one by one, or choose Eng4Skills to cover four skills in a single test.
