Star Wars Vocabulary Terms

 Padawan 

Every Jedi begins their journey as a Padawan.

In the Star Wars universe, a Padawan is an individual undergoing training to become a Jedi, typically a young person. In real-world contexts, the term is occasionally used to describe learners, followers, or individuals who are just starting their endeavors.

 The original trilogy 

The finest Star Wars movies are the initial trilogy.

A trilogy is a set of three books, plays, or films intended to be experienced sequentially. In the context of Star Wars, the original trilogy comprises the first three films ever produced: Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983).

 Prequel

The Phantom Menace initiated the prequel trilogy.

A prequel is a film (or book) crafted subsequent to an original work to delve into the background stories of characters. It revisits and provides details about events that occurred before the original narrative unfolded.

 Clones 

Clones excel at following commands.

Clones are military personnel manufactured to replicate precisely one original human soldier, essentially “cloned.” They are alternatively referred to as “clone troopers.” In the initial trio of Star Wars films, they serve as soldiers aligned with the Republic, representing the virtuous faction.

Galaxy 

A significant duration in the past, situated in a distant galaxy.

A galaxy denotes a collection of millions or billions of stars and planets existing together in space. When something is characterized as “galactic,” such as “the Galactic Civil War,” it implies its involvement on a universal scale encompassing the entire galaxy.

 Spaceship / Spacecraft 

Star Destroyers are formidable spacecraft employed in combat.

A spacecraft designed for voyages in outer space, commonly referred to as a “ship” in the Star Wars universe.

 Jedi 

Yoda instructed Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Jedi.

The Jedi comprise a distinctively trained assembly of leaders and peacemakers. They acquire expertise in wielding the Force as a weapon through the study of ancient traditions. Attaining strength involves self-improvement through selfless acts and maintaining pure thoughts. Jedi knights engage in battle solely to assist those in need.

 The Force

The Force is an enigmatic, somewhat mystical power omnipresent in the universe. It constitutes the energy force generated by all living entities. Individuals with unique abilities can undergo training to wield it as a weapon. Those skilled in combat with the Force are known as Jedis or Siths.

The Dark Side 

“Never. I’ll never embrace the Dark Side.” — Luke Skywalker

The Dark Side represents the negative aspect of the Force, encompassing the malevolent energy in the universe. It draws power from emotions like anger, hatred, greed, jealousy, and fear. Individuals who harness the Dark Side are identified as Darksiders, Dark Jedi, or Sith.

 Droid 

“These are not the droids you’re seeking.” — Obi-Wan Kenobi

A droid refers to a robot, which can be designed for various purposes. Some droids, like the Droidicas, are created for military roles, while others, such as R2-D2 and C-3PO, serve as assistants or servants.

 Padawan

Prominent Sith figures include Darth Vader (known for the “I am your father” revelation), Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Maul.

Telekinesis 

Yoda possesses the capability of manipulating objects through telekinesis.

Telekinesis is the skill of moving objects solely with the power of the mind, harnessed through the Force.

 Death Star 

They narrowly avoided being ensnared in the Death Star.

The Death Star is the spacecraft utilized by the malevolent government of The Empire, characterized by its moon-like shape.
